Special Training: Shared Supports

July 1 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

In Q2 2026, MITC will release new software options for providers managing shared supports. Join us for a free training on Wednesday, July 1st at 2pm ET on existing shared supports options and the new enhancements.

Shared support is a person-centered service model where individuals, often those with intellectual/developmental disabilities or the elderly, share a direct support worker, home, or resources with one or two others. This model emphasizes community inclusion, building natural relationships, and personalized care, offering an alternative to traditional group homes by focusing on independence in a family-style setting.

However, when two or three people in the same home share a direct support professional for tasks like meal preparation, shopping, transportation, and personal care, providers sometimes struggle with complying with EVV and tracking billing and payroll.

  • Some software requires the care giver to clock-in with each individual simultaneously and clock-out simultaneously. This often results in the care giver forgetting one or more clock-ins.
  • Some software requires the care giver to clock-in to one system for payroll and track documentation and EVV in another system. Inevitably this leads to problems as the payroll, billing/EVV hours may not match and as the care giver is using two systems for the same thing, compliance levels are low.
